Project for Architizer A+Awards 2020
AROUND & ABOUT

Valteran Ltd. is proud to present the project of a 160 sq.m residential building designed as two semi-domes, each with a diameter of 8 meters. They are connected by an additional space. Adjacent to the main house there is also a separate single domed guest house and sauna, which completes a triangle of three similar domes sheltered by the tall trees of the surrounding forest. There is underfloor electric heating throughout the building and the domes.

This ‘Hobbit House’ was built in the suburbs of Saint Petersburg (Russia) from 2016/17, by an Unknown Architecture and the interior design made by the Construction bureau of A. Cherkasov http://www.kbcherkasov.ru. We propose the inclusion of self-grown elfin willow furniture, provided by the UK company “Fully Grown” https://fullgrown.co.uk/. The graphic design was done by the architect V. Senin senin-w@mail.ru

In harmony with the timeless theme of hobbits and elves, the house is also hosting a collection of paintings by Anna Valteran. They were all painted from March to May 2020, during the Covid-19 epidemic. They are based on the photos taken by the owner’s friends in Italy, Israel, the United Kingdom, Russia, Sweden and the USA during that time period.
